For this project, LPA was retained by the High Commission for the Federation of Saint Christopher and Nevis for the purpose of a major rezoning to permit office use in the residential zone where the High Commission was located.
Although foreign delegations and representatives in the form of Diplomatic Missions, Consulates, Embassies and High Commissions are traditionally exempt from municipal zoning regulations, it is customary that appropriate planning approvals are sought for development on the lands that they occupy.
The project included a detailed zoning analysis of the 27 nearest embassies within Sandy Hill, which has historically been home to many foreign delegations. The rezoning application was approved, and the High Commission officially opened it's doors in June, 2017.
